Telehealth Policy
Magna Telehealth Consultations – Terms and Conditions
By booking a telehealth consultation with Magna, you confirm that you have read and understood the following terms.
1. Understanding Telehealth Services
Your consultation will be conducted via secure phone call with a member of the Magna team after your details have been reviewed by a New Zealand doctor.
Telehealth is suitable for many conditions, but it does not replace a physical examination when one is clinically required. If necessary, you may be advised to seek an in-person assessment with a local healthcare provider.
2. Eligibility
You confirm that you are located in New Zealand at the time of your consultation.
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current health information to ensure safe and effective care.
3. Privacy
All consultations are private and confidential, following the principles outlined in the Health Information Privacy Code. Your information is securely stored and only shared with those necessary to provide your ongoing care (with your consent, unless legally required).
4. Prescriptions
Prescriptions, where clinically appropriate, are issued at the discretion of a New Zealand-registered doctor. Booking a consultation does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed. Follow-up appointments may be required to ensure your treatment remains safe and effective.
5. Fees & Cancellations
If consultation fees apply, you will be informed at the time of booking. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee or may not be eligible for a refund.
6. Emergencies
Magna does not provide emergency services. If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe pain, or any urgent medical issue, call 111 or attend your nearest emergency department immediately. Our team operates during normal business hours.
7. Consent to Telehealth
By proceeding with your appointment, you consent to receiving healthcare services via telehealth and understand the benefits and limitations of remote care.
8. Use of AI-Assisted Documentation
To support accurate record-keeping, we may use secure AI-assisted clinical documentation tools during your consultation. These tools assist with note-taking only and do not replace clinical decision-making. If you prefer not to have AI-assisted documentation used, please let us know before your consultation begins. All data is handled in accordance with New Zealand privacy standards.
9. Communications
By becoming a Magna patient, you agree that we may contact you regarding your appointments, prescriptions, and relevant health services. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
10. Call Recording
For quality assurance, training, clinical documentation, and patient safety purposes, Magna may record telehealth consultations.
Recordings form part of your clinical record and are stored securely in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.
Access to recordings is restricted to authorised personnel only.
By proceeding with your consultation, you consent to the recording of the call. If you do not wish for your consultation to be recorded, please notify us prior to the consultation and alternative arrangements may be discussed.
